I have internet at home, so expect a photo dump from the last couple months.
Having successfully finished the wedding gig, I proceeded to not really touch my camera at all for over a month. You guys were right - weddings are not for me. I had fun, a lot of fun, and I do think it was a good experience, but it's not my style.
That said, at least I'm good at people.
Anyway, thought you'd appreciate the update. I'm going to try to get back to normal now. Sorry, guys.
i suppose there's not much attraction to 'normal' really, so not a big deal.
ReplyDeletetoo bad you didn't enjoy the wedding thing - there's money to be made there, but yeah, def not for me or anyone i know.
alas, my sister is getting married in june, and i've been asked for black and white work to supplement the hired photographer. oh - and to be an usher. leica CL, or do i finally hunt down that old Retina i've been wanting for awhile....
sad thing - the church is better lit than the DC Armory - and i want to take pictures of things that MOVE at the armory! dammit.

ok, now i really need to clear out more camera junk in the cabinet.... nothin' like fast glass for christmas - my recently re-acquired Nikon FM2N now has a 105/1.8 to go with it's 50/1.2.

How might one usher and photograph at the same time? Or are you just expected to do the ceremony or some other specific time?
ReplyDeleteThis year brought no new glass, though I keep thinking about picking up the 35/2.4 or the 18-55 water resistant in an effort to get me to use the camera more often. I've started getting back into the habit of carrying it with me; we'll see if that goes anywhere. I'm trying to rediscover several lost passions and I'm worried it will get me overloaded.
usher, and take enough shots to be interesting i suppose. i'll be happy with about 4-5 worth framing, y'know?
ReplyDeletethe messed up thing tho? after hearing the FM2N fire off a few shots on christmas morning, my sister asking if THAT was the camera i planned to use at her wedding..... it's, uh, not quiet. the camera i was planning to use? my Leica CL. that fell out of a pickup truck onto asphalt in milwaukee night before last. dent makes the wind lever bind a bit, and the meter no longer works. guess i should fix it, huh?
so what'd i do after it fell? picked it up, set 1/8 at f2, took my last Kodachrome shot, and walked into the FedEx depot. yeah, the FedEx parking lot tried to kill my camera, possibly because it hates the K-14 process.
as for no new glass, that's good and bad i suppose. i'm still working on my quest for fewer cameras, and will be selling my screwmount Leica in favor of the previously mentioned broken CL. that'll leave me with Monster Pentax, FM2N, and CL. why can't I settle on one lens mount, and 'need' way less glass??
much better with the 14 than the fisheye BTW.
