I think I figured out the origin of speak, but that doesn't matter. What bothers me is the five above mouth. That's supposed to be my or our, so I'm guessing the whole thing works out logically to "our language," but I can't find or remember if there is any significance to five with regard to Chinese linguistic history.
That said, five also has the capacity to function as the word "surname," so I suppose it's possible it could be "our" in the sense of spoken family. I don't know.
