Some things to catch up on

So let's see...

Geese from early Februrary, then a gull from one of those same two trips. Then a Delmarva Fox Squirrel (one of four I saw that trip) from March (I think). Finally cherry blossoms through the 14mm and some ants and weird nymph bugs on a pine bush.

I guess it hasn't been a terrible year, altogether.

See the whole thing here.

  1. You know, in all the years I lived in Maryland I never saw Virginia Bluebells there!

You should see some of the stands in the Bankhead National Forest in Alabama. We found it so thick it was stunning.

  2. Don't worry - I haven't seen Virginia Bluebells here either. That was at Great Falls, yes, but the Virginia side.

I've been impressed with some of the day lily stands that have come up in the last couple years here. For whatever reason, they've really taken off along MD 108 past Clarksville to the west, but there's also a huge group next to the railroad, just down from the US 1/Ritz Way intersection on the north side of Beltsville. Very pretty distraction from what often is a very smelly place thanks to the trash trains.

  3. Nat,

The daylilies are crazy up in some of the more rural areas from old farm houses. You should see the daffodils in Alabama. I know of a field where a house used to be that is about a solid acre of daffodils now every year.
