I put out a peanut butter suet cake this afternoon. Within a half hour it seemed like every bird in the area showed up for some. All the usual visitors, plus the Robins and the Bluejay return, and even the Woodpecker ate some. I've seen some birds that I've never seen before, but I didn't get any ID shots. I also think I saw some sort of small Bird of Prey lingering around.
Not surprising on the suet - my dad gets EVERYTHING with those, and it was only once they started seeing heavy traffic that his Cooper's hawk came in and started picking off starlings and mourning doves.
I haven't seen any birds behind my mom's house yet, but I did see a little Cooper's on a "stop ahead" sign. That amused me more than it should have...
On the cat's collar - reflective for extra special deaf cat escape protection! It's a little thicker than normal, but not more than any standard safety collar. At least he stopped chewing on it.
