Advice for Travel:

Should you ever feel compelled to go to York, Pennsylvania to see the sights and experience the town for what it is, let me save you the trouble and show you the only thing that I found worth getting out of the car for in old downtown:

General Marquis de Lafayette

That there's the General Marquis de Lafayette. He lived from 1757 to 1834. The statue was dedicated on January 27, 2007 by the State Society of the Cincinnati of Pennsylvania and the City of York.

His quote on the keystone plaque at his feet: "Serving America is to my heart an inexpressible happiness."

He's stationed outside this building near the 1754 colonial court house:

Yes, the sky really was a gross brownish haze; we should probably be thankful it was overexposed.
